Steps:
- Pour the alcohol/water into a distillation flask.
- Set the flask on a Bunsen burner.
- Insert the fractioning column into the flask and insert a thermometer into the top of the fractioning column.
- Connect a condenser to the thinner end of the fractioning column.
- Put potassium carbonate into the condenser.
- Put another flask below the condenser that will capture the alcohol.
- Connect the Bunsen burner to the gas.
- Light the flame.
- Adjust the position of the Bunsen burner until the flame is blue.
- Wait until there is no more liquid coming from the condenser and the flask is mostly alcohol.
